Sep 23, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair and Turkish Airlines have expanded their cooperation by entering a new code-share agreement.
Taking effect from September 29, 2021, Finnair's code will be added on Turkish Airlines' route between Helsinki and Istanbul, and from Istanbul to Athens, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Amman, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, Antalya and Gazipasa.
At the same time, Turkish Airlines will add its code on domestic flights by Finnair from Helsinki to Kuopio, Vaasa, Oulu, and Rovaniemi, as well as on international flights to Keflavik, Tallinn, Tartu, Riga, Vilnius, Antalya and Gazipasa.
So far, the cooperation between the two airlines has been based on an interline agreement.
Turkish Airlines made its debut with scheduled services at Helsinki Airport in 2006, going up to daily flights from July 2009.
Finnair launched flights on its new route to Istanbul from March 4, 2009; in the 70'ies and 80'ies, Finnair operated flights from Helsinki to Istanbul via Cairo, Egypt.
