Sep 23, 2021 (newstodate): The Czech charter and ACMI carrier Smartwings has succeeded in landing a fresh contract with "two major" tour operators for flights between the Canary Islands and European destinations.
Starting from mid-October 2021 till the end of April 2022, Smartwings will be operating between Las Palmas and Helsinki, Tallinn, Bodo and Tromso, as well as Belgrade and Sofia - in all cases on a weekly basis.
Starting from October 1, 2021, Smartwings will also launch flights for German travel agencies from 10 airports in Germany and Switzerland to the Canary Islands and Greece.
From its home base in the Czech Republic, Smartwings is to operate flights to 60 destinations with its fleet of 44 aircraft including 16 Boeing 737 MAX 8.
On February 25, 2021, the carrier became the first European airline to return the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to service after 22 months on the ground.
