Sep 15, 2021 (newstodate): The Lufthansa Group's Eurowings seems close to announcing a decision to set up a new base at Stockholm Airport.
While Stockholm Airport has thus not so far been officially launched as a base, Eurowings' booking site unexpectedly released news - now removed - of a spree of new routes from Stockholm to open to 12 European destinations during the period from March 27, 2022, till June 3, 2022.
New routes are to be operated to Barcelona, Rome, Palma de Mallorca, Nice, Copenhagen, Malaga, Birmingham, Gdansk, Alcudia, Pensacola, Faro, and Berlin.
The information of the new routes on the booking machine was, however, soon lifted off the website, indicating that an error was made in publishing the news before an official press release was to reveal the news.
At least the route from March 27, 2022, between Stockholm and Copenhagen is still in the system - albeit still not open for bookings..
Eurowings is, however, no newcomer in the Swedish market.
After launching twice-weekly flights on June 28, 2021, on a new route connecting Malmo and Pristina International Airport, in Kosovo, with A320 aircraft, the carrier recently announced two new routes between Germany and Swedish destinations in the north of the country.
From December 4, 2021, Eurowings will offer a weekly rotation between Stuttgart and Kiruna served with Airbus A320 aircraft, and from December 5, 2021, flights will commence between Stuttgart and Luleaa Kallax Airport with two weekly rotations.
Eurowings already serves Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg Landvetter.
In Sweden, Aviator Airport Alliance provides Eurowings with ground handling services.
