Sep 14, 2021 (newstodate): Azerbaijan's cargo carrier Silk Way West Airlines is among the prime providers of cargo capacity serving Norway's seafood exporters.
Following on a series of non-scheduled charter operation from September 28, 2019, the carrier eventually launched scheduled freighter services from late April 2020, with one scheduled weekly Boeing 747-400F service at Oslo Airport on Fridays, with transfer to onward flights on the carrier's network of seafood shipments after temporary storage at Silk Way West Airlines' cooling facilities at Baku Airport.
According to Norwegian media citing Avinor statistics, Silk Way West lifted a total of 6,060 tonnes out of Oslo in 2020.
At Oslo Airport, terminal and ramp handling of Silk Way West Airlines is provided by Oslo Seafood & Cargo Center AS.
