Aug 25, 2021 (newstodate): Calling itself Britain's newest cargo airport, Bournemouth Airport, in southern UK, is now advertising a new cargo service operated by the Latvian cargo carrier RAF-Avia.
With effect from today, the airport is thus marketing a daily cargo charter availability operated with RAF-Avia's SAAB 340 aircraft that is otherwise stationed at Manchester Airport.
-We are indeed most interested in operating this cargo service at Bournemouth Airport and will move the SAAB freighter from Manchester if warranted by the market, says Elena Rigere, RAF-Avia Commercial Director.
-In reality, this will depend entirely on the market; we would need both incoming and outgoing cargo at Bournemouth Airport to make this operation profitable, and so far we have not seen a demand for cargo imports into Bournemouth. We would of course be obliged to actually base the aircraft at the airport to make the service available for customers on a daily basis.
-However, basing the aircraft at Bournemouth Airport also means accommodating crews, which is a highly expensive cost reflecting on the total calculation; so let us see how this develops, says Mrs Rigere.
In the fleet of RAF-Avia is today one AN-26, two ATR 72-200F and one SAAB 340 aircraft.
