Aug 18, 2021 (newstodate): Long nurtured hopes among stakeholders in Norway's seafood exports are now materializing in the form of an enhanced infrastructure at and around Oslo Airport.
One key significant development is the planned construction of a 40,000m2 seafood handling facility, World Seafood Center, adjacent to Oslo Airport, slated for opening by mid-2023, with GPC already onboard taking half of the space on an 18-years lease contract with the owner, Oslo Airport City.
Another hot issue among shippers and handlers of Norwegian seafood exports is the construction at Oslo Airport of a Cool Hotel, open to all parties in the seafood logistics industry and relieving pressure on the existing terminals that today have to store finished pallets alongside the production line at congested facilities with little, or no, space for expansion.
Avinor has now published a tender for construction of the Cool Hotel, with bids from potential construction companies to be handed in by Q3, 2021.
