Aug 10, 2021 (newstodate): July 2021 was not exactly a peak in cargo volumes through Latvia's Riga Airport, with volumes down 5.2 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 1,924 tonnes of cargo was handled, including 1,241 tonnes of cargo, down 12 percent y-o-y, and 682 tonnes of mail, which was however an increase by nine percent.
During the first seven months of this year, the airport has seen a sound rebound in volumes, totaling 14,298 tonnes corresponding to an increase by 20 percent, y-o-y.
Seen against July 2019, this year's cargo volumes are actually slightly up by 1.2 percent, while the big difference lies in the mail volumes that are down 29 percent in 2021.
Comparing the total volumes 2021/2019 shows that this year still lags behind by 13 percent.
