Aug 05, 2021 (newstodate): The Lithuanian freight forwarding company Rava Cargo has aired plans for growing its role in the country's airfreight and express industry.
Set up in 2014 with HQs at Siauliai Airport, the company has leased some 600 m2 hangar space at the airport to serve as a customs warehouse, working towards becoming a certified express parcel carrier with potentials to transporting some 5,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
-We are planning to provide the entire cargo transportation service from its loading to the handling of documents upon arrival, storage and delivery, says Arturas Jurkevicius, Rava Cargo CEO and owner, who is already in talks with European integrators and local parcel delivery companies.
-We intend to become an express carrier integrating all logistics processes with all the necessary infrastructure and resources.
Mr Jurkevicius earlier served as Head of Siauliai Airport's Ground Handling and Cargo Division.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport operates a 3,500m CAT 1 runway - the longest in the Baltic region - and a second 3,280m runway
