Aug 30, 2021 (newstodate): Another nail in the coffin of the Danish mink fur exports adventure has now been hammered: Line Spang leaves the business.
The undisputed key professional in the fur logistics business, Ms Spang is today taking up a new position with COOP as Transport Planner after serving since January 2020 as Global Operational Account Fur Logistics with Scan Global Logistics, a leading provider in this field of business.
For almost nine years and stating from 2012, Ms Spang served as Shipping Manager with Kopenhagen Fur that is, however, winding down activities as the Danish mink fur industry has been effectively annihilated by a political decision during the coronavirus pandemic, leading to the culling of the entire live stock.
Kopenhagen Fur, owned by the Danish mink farmers, is thus closing down all activities, with the last operations in 2022.
Kopenhagen Fur still expects to deliver some 28-30 million mink furs on storage in 2021-2022 before folding its wings, translating into some 250 tonnes of high-value air cargo in 2021 and 2022.
Earlier, the volume of mink fur lifted by air was around 5,000 tonnes annually.
