Aug 09, 2021 (newstodate): Indicating a recovery, Finland's Helsinki Airport saw its total cargo volumes up by 10.9 percent, y-o-y, in the first seven months of this year.
A total of 91,040 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport, compared to 82,068 tonnes in 2020.
Compared to pre-Covid 2019, the airport is however still down 29 percent in total volumes as the international traffic remains slow in returning to pre-Covid levels.
In 2019, Helsinki Airport thus handled 121,821 tonnes of international cargo, which was an increase by 15.5 percent, y-o-y.
But in January-July 2021, international cargo volumes are still only 90,279 tonnes, which is 11.2 percent up on last year - but down 26 percent, compared to 2019.
