Aug 17, 2021 (newstodate): The Norwegian company MSG Aviation is gaining momentum behind its plans for an automated aircraft washing and de-icing facility at Oslo Airport.
First customer to sign up earlier this month for the coming new service was the LCC Flyr, and now both Wideroe Ground Handling and the airline Norwegian have joined the tentative customer portfolio.
After a period of research, development and testing, MSG Aviation’s product is now ready for commercial launch, and the company is in dialogue with Oslo Airport to make pre-engineering for a facility to be commissioned in early 2022.
Automated de-icing performed in a dedicated gate will contribute to faster operations, less queuing, reduced fuel consumption, increased collection rate of de-icing fluid, and the possibility of reusing the de-icing fluid.
MSG Aviation is also to offer automated aircraft and engine wash, and development is also being conducted for introducing technical inspection of the aircraft where it is scanned while being washed.
