Aug 27, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair is still reporting its long-haul flight schedule on a weekly basis, reflecting the sustained volatile Covid-19 situation and its effects on economy.
In August 2021, the carrier has performed 33 weekly long-haul flights to Asia and the USA - and this will go up to 37 from this coming week and through September.
Concerning China, flights to Beijing are still suspended, while flights to Shanghai as well as to Hong Kong will go up from two to three weekly rotations from September - all operated with Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
However, delays in deliveries and goods shipments through China’s largest cargo airports are mounting as new outbreaks of coronavirus have cancelled flights and disrupted the customs-clearance process.
Finnair still reports its Shanghai-flights to continue unabated by the over-all disruptions and general difficulties.
-Indeed, the Covid-19 situation in China is causing concern over operations, but so far our flights have been operating normally, says Emmi Teras, Finnair Cargo Marketing Lead.
-We follow all procedures required by the local authorities, and so far our ground handling partner has been able to service our flights with only minor irregularities.
-We monitor the situation closely and understand this sensitive situation may change fast in case new Covid-19 cases occur, says Ms. Teras.
Finnair has been operating its Shanghai route from Helsinki since September 2, 2003, initially with three weekly rotations increasing to five weekly rotations from May 31, 2004, and up to daily flights from 2006.
