Aug 05, 2021 (newstodate): In July 2021, Finnair noted an increase in cargo volumes by 94.1 percent compared to July last year when Covid-19 struck.
A total of 6,912 tonnes of cargo was carried, with loads on the growing volume of scheduled passenger flights reaching 4,928 tonnes, in addition to 1,984 tonnes on all-cargo flights - corresponding to an increase by 132 and 38 percent, respectively.
Cargo carried on the Asian lanes was 3,472 tonnes, up 96.6 percent, while loads on the N American routes were up by 100 percent to 1,196 tonnes.
In the first seven months of this year, Finnair's cargo total volumes are thus up by 7.1 percent to 47,228 tonnes, with the Asian volumes still down 21.6 percent, y-o-y, to 17,624 tonnes.
In January-July 2021, all-cargo operations still outweighed volumes on the scheduled traffic, totaling 25,796 tonnes against 21,431 tonnes on scheduled flights.
The proportion of volumes on all-cargo, compared to scheduled flights is however clearly receding - down 27.2 percent, month-on-month, in July 2021.
