Aug 20, 2021 (newstodate): The Danish regional aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital has delivered the fifth of a series of eight aircraft to the Ukrainian carrier Windrose Airlines.
The latest aircraft was earlier operated by the Taiwanese carrier Transasia Airlines that went bust in 2016 - leaving the aircraft out of service since then.
Earlier an all-jet aircraft operator, Windrose Airlines was commissioned in December 2019 by the State Aviation Administration to launch services on six domestic routes in Ukraine, creating a need for a suitable aircraft type to be added to the fleet.
The carrier subsequently signed a LoI with Nordic Aviation Capital for lease of eight ATR 72-600 aircraft to be delivered in 2020-2022.
Founded in 2003, Windrose Airlines received its AOC in 2007 and is now among the leading companies providing air traffic in Ukraine with a market share of 21 percent, according to the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.
