Aug 16, 2021 (newstodate): All conditions and requirements for the acquisition of GIL, Global Integrated Logistics have been fulfilled, and DSV Panalpina is now formally taking over the company from Kuwait-based Agility.
The combined DSV and GIL business is aiming to use the strengthened position in the market to continue to grow through enhanced service offerings for customers, market-leading IT infrastructure and economies of scale.
The two organizations will be merged in a country-by-country process, which means that for customers and employees in many countries, the coming period will be business as usual until the country-specific merger process is initiated.
With the acquisition of GIL, DSV Panalpina will become the world's 3rd largest transport and logistics company with a combined pro forma revenue of approximately USD 22 billion – an increase of around 23 percent – and a combined workforce of more than 70,000 employees.
Especially DSV Panalpina's Air & Sea-division will be substantially strengthened with the acquisition of GIL and will consolidate the rank among the largest providers globally with close to 2.8 million containers (TEUs) and more than 1.6 million tonnes of airfreight transported annually.
