Aug 30, 2021 (newstodate): The new Norwegian LCC Flyr is finally seeing the delivery of its third aircraft on August 30, 2021.
The carrier had been planning with three Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the fleet this summer, but the delivery scheme slipped; Flyr has been operating only two ex-Pegasus Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the UK aircraft leasing company Pembroke as the delivery of the third aircraft, slated for late July 202, run into sustained delays.
The carrier has thus relied on chartering capacity from external providers - first a Boeing 737-400 from the Danish start-up carrier airseven, and later an Airbus A220-300 from the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
Now, Flyr is looking forward to taking delivery of its next, and fourth, Boeing 737-800 slated for delivery by mid-September.
Plans are to grow the fleet to eight leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the first phase, and in the second phase to 20 aircraft; in a phase 3, the fleet will contain up to 28-30 aircraft.
