Jul 02, 2021 (newstodate): During the runway construction period at Evenes Airport, the sole operator of cargo flights has been Virgin Atlantic Airways.
In cooperation with Kuehne & Nagel Norway, Virgin Atlantic on February 3, 2021, launched two weekly flights from Evenes to London Heathrow using Boeing 787-9 aircraft to lift seafood belly cargo into Virgin's route network in London, with onward transfer to the US market.
Rumors have been circulating in the market that Virgin Atlantic was to leave Evenes Airport, but this seems not to be the case.
-We will temporarily rein in to operating one weekly flight for the coming weeks as demand seems to be a bit low, that's all, says Kuehne + Nagel SVP Global Perishables & Head of Carrier Management Air Logistics.
