Jul 29, 2021 (newstodate): According to Finavia statistics, Helsinki Airport managed to increase its cargo volumes in H1/2021.
A total of 78,858 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, up 8.7 percent, y-o-y.
International cargo accounted for 78,204 tonnes which was an increase by 8.7 percent, net least driven by Finnair's all-cargo operations and the cautious reopening of Finnair's long-haul traffic to Asia and the USA.
However, the year-on-year comparison is still marked by the disastrous impact of the coronavirus since early 2020, where Finland's total air cargo volumes dropped by 37.9 percent, following on the steep growth in 2019 where volumes were up by 13.1 percent to 231,461 tonnes.
