Jul 28, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair was still seeing good results from all-cargo operations in the first half of 2021.
According to the Finnair Group's Half-year Report, the carrier operated a total of 522 all-cargo flights during January-June 2021, while cargo volumes were also supporting the cautious, but continuous reopening of the airline's long-haul passenger flights.
-Cargo demand remained strong due to the delivery chain challenges caused by the pandemic. Cargo continued to account for more than half of our revenue, even though passenger revenue surpassed cargo revenue again in June, says Finnair Group CEO Topi Manner in his comments to the report.
The carrier performed its first all-cargo flight on March 28, 2020, and carried a total of 26,036 tonnes on all-cargo flights in 2020.
By March 28, 2021, the number of all-cargo flights rounded 1,800 operations generating over half of the carrier's net sales, compared to only seven percent prior to the coronavirus.
