Jun 15, 2021 (newstodate): Flown cargo volumes at three major Swedavia airports are back to growth - modestly, though, as the lack of cargo capacity by large wide-body passenger aircraft is still marked.
The three airports still share a sustained decline in exports, while import volumes are rising again, compared to 2020.
Volumes handled at the airports of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo were thus up by one, 0.3 and 4.8 percent, y-o-y, during January-May 2021.
38,706 tonnes were handled at Stockholm Arlanda Airport including 21,709 tonnes of exports, down 3.2 percent, while imports increased by 6.8 percent to 16,997 tonnes.
8,043 tonnes were handled at Gothenburg Airport including 3,521 tonnes of exports, down 3.4 percent, and 4,523 tonnes of imports, up 3.4 percent.
Benefiting from integrator traffic, Malmo Airport handled 9.354 tonnes including 4,341 tonnes of exports, down 1.4 percent, while imports were up by 10.9 percent to 5.013 tonnes.
Flown cargo volumes at seven other airports also operated by Swedavia dropped 6.5 percent, y-o-y, during January-May 2+21, to 1,654 tonnes, with a drop by 13.1 percent in imports while exports managed to grow 2.7 percent, y-o-y.
In total, flown cargo volumes at all 10 Swedavia airports were thus up by 1.3 percent, y-o-y, to 57,757 tonnes during the period.
