Jun 15, 2021 (newstodate): Recovering from the Covid-19 crisis, Latvia's Riga Airport continues to consolidate its position as the leading cargo airport in the Baltic region.
In May 2021 the airport saw volumes up by 67.8 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 2,323 tonnes including 1,611 tonnes of cargo and 713 tonnes of mail.
This brought the volumes in January-May 2021 to a total of 10,186 tonnes of cargo, up 26,1 percent, y-o-y.
Compared to pre-Covid 2019, January-May volumes are however still 5.7 percent down - while the trend is definitely positive, with volumes in May 2021 9.1 percent up on May 2019.
