Jun 11, 2021 (newstodate): The cargo market is fluctuating, and changes are happening fast, says Unndor Jonsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic VP Sales and Marketing.
-For Air Atlanta Icelandic, compared to 2020 the situation is now stabilizing as for flying hours for sale. In 2021, we are seeing quite stable and good figures in utilization, and looking slightly ahead we expect this to last at least until summer 2022, maybe even through the whole year.
-After that, it all depends on how fast regular belly cargo capacity will return as airlines achieve normal services. This will translate into lower volumes for freighter operators, albeit not to levels as low as before the Covid-19.
-In the current situation, we are unfortunately not able to take in new customers, although the demand is there. The limiting factor remains the lack of options for acquiring new aircraft.
-Also, I do not see major changes in the competitive situation in the market, for all existing and the few newcomers face the same scarcity of aircraft for sale, says Mr Jonsson.
