Jun 22, 2021 (newstodate): Managing the Icelandic/Cabo Verde airline TACV, Cabo Verde Airlines is obviously quite a challenge.
After more than a year stuck on the ground since April 2020 due to Covid-19, debts, financing, issues with unions, and political turmoil, the carrier announced resumption of flights this month, with the first operation from Sal Airport to Lisbon on June 18, 2021.
This did not happen, though; the aircraft was denied clearance, leaving its four passengers grounded as well.
Officially, the cancellation of the flight was due to some technical and operational issues, while rumors are that the Cabo Verde Airports Organization ASA denied the start of flight due to unsettled debts.
Anyhow, the airline has published a flights schedule for June 28, 2021-March 28, 2022, with a limited program using only two Boeing 757-200 aircraft leased from the Icelandic company Loftleidir on routes to Europe and the USA.
