Jun 30, 2021 (newstodate): Today marks the virgin flight by the new Norwegian carrier Flyr.
Shortly before noon, the airline lifted off on the first flight from Oslo to Tromso.
On June 16, 2021, Flyr received its AOC by the Norwegian CAA, starting our with the lease of two ex-Pegasus Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the UK aircraft leasing company Pembroke.
Plans are to grow the fleet to eight leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the first phase, providing flights from Oslo to 12 destinations, including five outside Norway.
In a second phase, the fleet will be increased to 20 aircraft serving a network of 23 destinations; and in a phase 3 the fleet will contain up to 28-30 aircraft with flights also from Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim and serving a network adding flights also to the three Baltic states.
Aviator Airport Alliance will provide Flyr with ground handling services at Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Tromso and Bodo, while Wideroe Ground Handling will be handling Flyr at Stavanger Evenes.
