Jun 09, 2021 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport is still to see a return of any significant development in the legacy all-cargo and freighter traffic in 2021.
In the first five months of this year, the airport has only handled 361 tonnes of cargo in this segment - down 97 percent on last year when the imports of notably PPE shipments boomed in response to the Covid-19 - and a far cry from 2019, when the airport handled 19,386 tonnes of cargo on commercial freighters during January-May.
However, one fresh sign of life is provided by Saudia Cargo that launched its twice-weekly Boeing 777-300ER all-cargo service from Jeddah to Copenhagen on May 22, 2021, with ambitions to add passengers also later this year - if warranted by the market.
