May 06, 2021 (newstodate): Norway's Evenes Airport seems to be big catch for Virgin Atlantic's all-cargo operations..
A new record was set on May 5, 2021, as the Boeing 787-9 departed from Evenes for London Heathrow with an all-time high load of 56.3 tonnes of salmon and trout - the highest load so far, not just out of Evenes but on all Virgin Atlantic all-cargo flight operations.
The operation on May 5 thus even outperformed the earlier record set by Virgin Atlantic on the route on February 12, 2021, reporting the uplift of 54 tonnes of seafood from Evenes to via London Heathrow to Boston, New York and Los Angeles - also easily surpassing the budgeted goal of some 45 tonnes per flight.
In cooperation with Kuehne & Nagel Norway, Virgin Atlantic on February 3, 2021, launched two weekly flights from Evenes to London Heathrow using Boeing 787-9 aircraft to lift seafood belly cargo into Virgin's route network in London, with onward transfer to the US market.
