May 19, 2021 (newstodate): Norlandair added a new Beechcraft King Air B200 to its fleet.
The fifth aircraft in the fleet of Norlandair, this is the second of its type owned by the airline which is also operating three DHC6 Twin Otters.
The new aircraft will primarily be dedicated to serving flights between Iceland and Greenland, as part of a 10-year contract signed in November 2020 with Greenland's Government to service the route with two weekly rotations between Constable Point in Scoresbysund and Reykjavik Airport.
Around 80 percent of Norlandair's operation is centered in Greenland, and the new airplane is especially well-suited for shorter airstrips like those of Constable Point.
For years, Norlandair, since October 2011 owned 25 percent by Air Greenland, has been operating two weekly flights from Akureyri, while the coming flights from Reykjavik are new on the schedule.
