May 10, 2021 (newstodate): The Icelandic LCC-project Play has now taken delivery of the first of three Airbus A321neo aircraft, according to Icelandic media.
Speaking to media, the airline's CEO Birgir Jonsson confirmed that the remaining two so far planned for will be ready for service by early July, and the airline's flight crews are now undergoing simulator training in the UK.
Pending the issuance of the airline's AOC, due shortly, the airline plans to enter commercial service with the first commercial flight on June 24, 2021.
The first destination to be served has yet to be announced, but Play earlier aired intentions of introducing daily services from Keflavik to London and Dublin starting from H1, 2021.
