May 07, 2021 (newstodate): Montenegro’s new fully state-owned national carrier, Air Montenegro has now been granted its AOC.
The new airline will start out with a fleet of two Embraer E195 aircraft and is readying for its first flights from Podgorica and Tivat to Belgrade, in Serbia.
Already now, the government is negotiating the purchase of a third E195, like the two other aircraft formerly operated by Montenegro Airlines that went bust on December 26, 2020, after accumulating heavy losses.
After a tender process ending March 3, 2021, LH Consulting won a contract to provide Air Montenegro, formerly named ToMontenegro Airlines, with complete start-up process preparation as well as developing a long-term plan for the carrier, including future network and fleet structure.
