May 28, 2021 (newstodate): On June 8, 2020, the charter/ACMI carrier Jettime was registered by the investment company JT3H owned by Lars Thuesen, with Jorgen Holme as CEO.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown periods have kept the airline's fleet comprising four Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 737-700 stuck on ground with the aircraft in Active Storage, while staff has been reduced to only some 30 people in administration and the technical division.
Now hopes are soon to get airborne again, with the first flight slated for July 1, 2021, to lift TUI passengers from Copenhagen Airport to a Mediterranean leisure resort, probably Kreta.
-We expect to have from two to four aircraft operating in summer 2021 that is probably to be a very challenging season with limited demand. Market signals are, however, that the next winter season may signal a return to pre-Covid normal times, says Birthe Madsen, Jettime VP Management Support.
-Two aircraft will be in for C-checks in October/November and this will probably not pose a problem in times of limited market demand. Should the market unexpectedly need more capacity, we would however not hesitate to charter or lease extra aircraft, rather than be forced to turn down a request.
-So, after close to one year since our foundation we are now again hiring people in the form of crews for the coming flight program. Six crews are needed per aircraft, and we are now sending pilots for training in Stockholm. The first team of 12 is now in class, and the next team of 24 people will start training from May 31, 2021.
-Thanks to a determined and steadfast investor, the unwavering trust in Jettime by TUI, and supported by reasonable aircraft leasing terms, we are in the market and now readying to finally lift-off, says Ms Madsen.
