May 04, 2021 (newstodate): Cargo figures for April 2021 from Denmark's Billund Airport show a surprising hike in volumes by 42 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 6,334 tonnes of cargo was handled, with strong increases in both imports and exports.
Imports were thus up by 12.2 percent, y-o-y, to 1,606 tonnes, while exports grew even more by 56.2 percent to 4,728 tonnes.
Both imports and exports are thus clearly recovering after the bleak months in 2020 as the Covid-19 struck.
Comparing the performance of April 2021 with the pre-Corona April 2019 shows that imports are still 17.8 percent behind in 2021, while export volumes in April 2021 are no less than 28.2 percent above levels in April 2019.
Actually, 4,728 tonnes of exports in April 2021 was a five-year record-high volume for the month.
During the first four months of this year, the airport has handled 24,293 tonnes of cargo, up 15.1 percent, y-o-y, driven by a growth by 21.1 percent in exports while imports were only slightly up by 0.4 percent, y-o-y.
