Apr 09, 2021 (newstodate): Cargo remains a key strategy for Sweden's community-owned Jonkoping Airport - and so far into 2021 cargo volumes are encouraging.
In March 2021, the airport handled a total of 249 tonnes of cargo which was actually five percent above volumes in March 2020 - and volumes are increasing month-by-month from 205 tonnes in January and 213 tonnes in February 2021.
Measured in volumes, the airport dipped five percent, y-o-y, in 2020 that aggregated a total of 2,901 tonnes- but according to the airport, the trend is upward when measured in cubic meters where a strong growth in small-size, low-weight packages containing e-commodities is noted.
Today, the cargo operators at the airport are FedEx, time-matters, and Dan'X.
On the agenda remain hopes for a freighter connection between Jonkoping Airport and Riga Airport as well as a freighter service to Skellefteaa, and relentless efforts are made to find ways to realize these plan in talks with airlines and stakeholders in the industry.
