Apr 21, 2021 (newstodate): Russian airlines will need more than 700 new aircraft and some 250 helicopters by 2030.
The figures were revealed by Alexander Neradko, head of Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency in an interview with Russian media.
Serving Russia's commercial airlines by January 1, 2021, were 997 aircraft, and the number of Western-built aircraft has grown by 25 percent since 2017, from 582 to 745 despite efforts to boost the country's own aircraft industry, Mr Neradko said.
82 percent of aircraft above the regional types are western-built, while the proportion of the regional-type western-built aircraft is 41 percent - and rising.
Notably, of the total 997 aircraft operated by Russian airlines, 725 are registered in Bermuda and Ireland, corresponding to over 70 percent of the entire fleet operating for Russian carriers.
