Apr 22, 2021 (newstodate): Sweden may still have to wait for SAS to resume direct nonstop flights to New York.
So far, plans were to launch fights on the route from June 2, 2021, with the carrier's new Airbus A321LR aircraft, but as of now the start has been postponed till at least July 31, 2021, probably due to the sustained low demands in the market and travel restrictions enforced to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
On October 15, 2020, SAS took delivery of its first Airbus A321LR as the first of three aircraft, with the next deliveries slated for Q2 and Q3, 2021, respectively.
SAS also plans to reopen flights between Oslo and New York Newark Airport one month after the start of flights from Stockholm, also using the Airbus A321LR aircraft on the route.
