Apr 08, 2021 (newstodate): While little is heard from efforts to set up a new airline in Sweden, Northern Airlines, the process still seems to be moving.
At least, the company has now announced for applications to fill the position as Chief Financial Officer.
With Dlovan Sandi as Project Manager, the carrier was established in 2019 with plans for a fleet starting out in 2021 with one Boeing 737-800 aircraft, growing to three units before the end of this year.
Plans are to launch services to Beirut and Malaga as the carrier's first destinations served from Stockholm Airport.
According to Sweden's CAA, Transportstyrelsen, Northern Airlines has so far made two attempts to obtain an AOC.
-The first application from Northern Airlines was delivered in October 2020, but as it was found inadequately documented it was denied in December, says a representative from Transportstyrelsen.
-A second attempt was made in January 2021; this time the application was sufficiently documented, allowing us to actually start the procedure.
-However, it takes rather a long time for us to obtain the documentation required, so it remains to be seen if Northern Airlines will eventually make it all the way to the completion of the process.
