Apr 07, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair is seeing a sustained strong demand for cargo capacity, especially in the Asian traffic, driving volumes in March 2021 on all-cargo flights up by 36.9 percent and total cargo tonnage up by 30.0 percent, compared to the preceding month.
In March 2021, the carrier thus lifted a total of 8,008 tonnes of cargo, up nine percent y-o-y, including 5,166 tonnes on all-cargo flights.
The carrier performed its first all-cargo flight on March 28, 2020, with an Airbus A350-900 passenger aircraft between Helsinki and Seoul, while on March 28, 2021, the number of all-cargo flight operations rounded 1,800.
2,502 tonnes of the total volumes were generated on the Asian lanes, which was however still 50.4 percent down, y-o-y, reflecting the continued grounding of most passenger flight operations.
