Apr 19, 2021 (newstodate): Cargo is a thriving business in 2021 at one Lithuanian airport - Kaunas Airport.
During the first three months of this year, the airport has been handling a total of 1,144 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 33 percent, y-o-y.
In March 2021 alone, a total of 413 tonnes of cargo was handled, up 18 percent.
The sustained rise in cargo is the result of all-cargo and freighter operations and to a large extent driven by e-commerce, while also boosted by incoming transports of PPE and coronavirus medical supplies.
Kaunas Airport is also home to a large and growing community of MRO industries generating a demand for cargo shipments.
