Apr 29, 2021 (newstodate): Lithuanian Airports Plc has launched a land lease auction to attract foreign and Lithuanian investors to Kaunas Airport, aiming to further develop the infrastructure for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul businesses.
The winner of the 40 years land lease auction will have the right to develop a plot of land greater than 7,000 m2, directly connected with the apron and sufficient for construction of an MRO facility accommodating the simultaneous handling of two Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 family aircraft.
Bidders should send their applications until the 13th of May 13, 2021, while the preliminary date for signing the contract is scheduled for June this year.
Construction of the new aircraft facility is set to start by the end of 2022, allowing the winner to commence operations at the new hangar by the end of 2023.
Kaunas Airport is already home for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services providers including Ryanair, FL Technics, and DOT.
Newcomer in Lithuania, Global Airways is also planning for a future setup of a maintenance base at Kaunas Airport to secure control over its needs for maintenance works.
