Apr 28, 2021 (newstodate): The Icelandic LCC-project Play seems close to announcing its first flight and its first destination.
According to Icelandic media, Play will lift off on its first commercial flight on June 24, 2021, pending the completion of the process to obtain its AOC and commercial license, expected shortly, and with three Airbus A321neo in the fleet for a start.
The carrier has earlier aired intentions of introducing daily services from Keflavik to London and Dublin starting from H1, 2021.
Initially, the core group behind the project planned for flights to commence already in December 2019, with two Airbus A321 aircraft, growing to six aircraft in 2020, and to 10 aircraft within the first three years of operation.
