Apr 09, 2021 (newstodate): Georgian Airways is to build up a new division, dedicated to cargo.
As a first step, the airline has now taken delivery of a leased Boeing 737-800SF with plans for further acquisitions as business develops.
The cargo business was strengthened by the merger of Georgian Airways's cargo traffic and Georgian Post's terminal facilities at Tbilisi Airport, which has been growing the volumes transported on Georgian Airways' flights considerably - and to the extent of setting up Georgian Airways Cargo as a new business unit.
In March 2019, the privately-owned carrier Georgian Airways named US resident Roman Bokeria as its new CEO - taking over the position with no previous experience from the aviation industry.
Mr Bokeria graduated from the Faculty of World Economy and Banking at the St Petersburg State University (1992-1996), continuing his studies at Tbilisi State University in the Faculty of Business Law (1997-2003).
In 2008-2010, he studied at the University of Tampa, John H. Sykes College of Business, receiving his Master Degree in Business Administration in Finance and Investment.
Prior to joining Georgian Airways, Mr Bokeria was on the Residential Board at Miami Association of Realtors, serves as State Director at Florida Association of Realtors as a licensed Real Estate broker, licensed Business Brokerage broker and licensed Mortgage Lending broker in Miami.
