Apr 15, 2021 (newstodate): Counted together, Swedavia's three main cargo airports noted a drop in flown cargo volumes by 8.8 percent, y-o-y, in the first quarter of this year.
A total of 31,216 tonnes of flown cargo was handled at Stockholm Arlanda, Gothenburg Landvetter, and Malmo Airport, including 16,695 tonnes of exports, down 16.4 percent, and 14,521 tonnes of imports which was however an increase by 1.7 percent, y-o-y.
With a decline in volumes by 9.9 percent to 21,191 tonnes Stockholm Airport was the worst affected by the overall drop, seeing exports down by 19.1 percent to 12,082 tonnes while exports increased by 6.2 percent to 9,109 tonnes.
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport handled 4,557 tonnes, down 7.5 percent, y-o-y, with exports down only 1.4 percent to 2,020 tonnes, while imports dropped 11.8 percent to 2,536 tonnes.
Finally, Malmo Airport handled 5,325 tonnes which was only 2.5 percent below Q1/2020, including 2,530 tonnes of exports that dropped 11.8 percent, while imports increased by 7.8 percent to 2,795 tonnes.
Apart from the three main airports, Swedavia's seven other airports together saw their flown cargo volumes down by 57.4 percent, y-o-y, to a mere 144 tonnes due to a strong decline in domestic air services during the period.
