Apr 15, 2021 (newstodate): Failing in the first place to land its bid in the recent tender for flights on one of five domestic PSO routes in Finland, the Danish carrier DAT will now have a second chance.
DAT's bid on the route between Helsinki and Kajaani lost to competitor, Latvia's RAF-Avia in the first place - but seeking more detailed information on RAF-Avia's bid it turned out that its aircraft designated for the flights does not meet the requirements for RNP approach navigation.
Now, DAT has been called in for fresh negotiations, but due to the snags in the process the start of flights will be delayed till May 2021 - and at a higher cost than in the bid by RAF-Avia.
Comprised by the tender, flights from Helsinki to Joensuu have now been contracted to the Swedish carrier Amapola Flyg, while traffic on the routes from Helsinki to Jyvaskyla and Kemi-Tornio will be taken over by the Estonian carrier NyxAir.
