Mar 15, 2021 (newstodate): The Swedish company TAM, Taby Aircraft Maintenance, is seeing an expanding market for conversion to freighters of SAAB 340 passenger aircraft.
TAM's earlier forecasted the conversion of some 4-6 SAAB 340 aircraft in 2021, but is now expecting to deliver instead 6-8 aircraft this year as the demand for smaller cargo aircraft as a feeder platform for express cargo carriers as well as other short-haul cargo operators is growing.
The latest conversion of a SAAB 340B was completed for the Estonian carrier NyxAir that took delivery of its aircraft on March 10, 2021, as its second SAAB 340F in the fleet.
TAM was the first company worldwide to be approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, as well as the European Aviation Safety Authority, EASA, to perform a full cargo conversion of Saab 340A and Saab 340B aircraft.
