Mar 11, 2021 (newstodate): So far into 2021, cargo volumes are still significantly down at Latvia's Riga Airport.
While detailed statistics are yet to be published, the airport says that volumes during the first two months of this year are down by 23.8 percent, y-o-y, to 3,100 tonnes.
However, the airport does see some comfort from the volumes on all-cargo and freighter operations that are up 53.6 percent, y-o-y, during the two months.
On the passenger side, the airport is obviously strongly hit by the prolonged lock-downs and shortfall of flight services, and in the first two months of the year the airport has seen a drop by 77.4 percent, y-o-y, in flight operations.
2,825 aircraft took off and landed at Riga Airport; but while the volume of passenger flights dropped by 88.2 percent, the number of cargo and other types of flights increased by 39.5 and 30.8 percent, respectively.
