Mar 10, 2021 (newstodate): Based at Lithuania's Siauliai Airport, the aircraft maintenance company Aviatic MRO is planning for a future with aircraft P2F conversions.
In September 2020, Aviatic landed an MoU with Israel's leading aerospace and MRO company, Israel Aerospace Industrie that will provide Aviatic with necessary licensing and know-how needed to carry out the conversion of B737NG passenger aircraft into cargo configuration.
Aviatic MRO is currently constructing a 23,000 sq m aircraft maintenance and repair center at Siauliai International Airport, scheduled to start operations in 2022.
After the commissioning of the facility, Aviatic expects to receive the first aircraft for cargo conversion later in 2022.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport with a 3,500m CAT 1 runway and a second 3,280m runway is today a key air base serving the NATO air forces supporting the monitoring of NATO's Baltic airspace.
