Mar 16, 2021 (newstodate): Lithuania's Kaunas Airport sends a strong signal of hope for growth in the air cargo industry.
Alone among Lithuania's three international airports to show cargo growth in 2021, the airport handled 357 tonnes of cargo in February 2021 - a small volume, but anyway growing 41.66 percent, y-o-y.
While the volume of aircraft operations was down 62.98 percent, y-o-y, the rise in cargo was the result of all-cargo and freighter operations and to a large extent driven by e-commerce, while also boosted by incoming transports of PPE and coronavirus medical supplies.
Kaunas Airport is also home to a large and growing community of MRO industries.
