Mar 09, 2021 (newstodate): The Icelandair Group has decided that all flights, domestic and international, will be integrated under the Icelandair brand.
The route systems and sales and marketing activities of Air Iceland Connect and Icelandair will thus be merged under the Icelandair brand from March 16, 2021.
-The aim of the companies' integration is to ensure the sustainable future of Icelandair Group's domestic flights as well as flights in the West Nordic market areas, and at the same time strengthen and simplify the company's operations as a whole, the statement reads.
-The companies' operating licenses will continue to be separated, but after the integration, there will be domestic and regional flights on Icelandair's FI flight numbers.
-The integration also contributes to a significant synergy effect in the company's operations, such as the merger of senior management, support departments and systems.
In April 2020, The Icelandair Group decided to merge the operations of the subsidiary Air Iceland Connect with Icelandair while keeping the two airlines' on separate AOCs, own operating licenses - and own brand names.
In one week, Air Iceland Connect will thus now disappear as a separate brand name.
