Mar 23, 2021 (newstodate): FL Technics is seeking approval of its plans for upgrading and expanding its current MRO facilities at Vilnius Airport - but has run into problems with approval by the Lithuanian state.
Together with the airports at Kaunas and Palanga, Vilnius Airport is one of three international airports in Lithuania, jointly managed by the state-owned Plc, Lithuanian Airports.
FL Technics is a member of ASG, Avia Solutions Group, that plans to invest seven mio euro in the reconstruction and development of FL Technics's hangar that is based on a lease agreement expiring only in 2053.
The ASG Group claims that the proposed plan would create up to 200 new specialized jobs, but has run into objections from the state-owned airport management company.
In support of FL Technics, two key aviation associations in Lithuania, the National Aviation Association, LAVIA, and the Civil Aviation Association CAVIA have now stepped in with a joint call on the Lithuanian government to lift its objections and allow the ASG Group to move forward with its plans.
Today, FL Technics operates a 13,742 m2 hangar and workshop facility at Vilnius Airport providing base and line maintenance services
