Mar 08, 2021 (newstodate):Today marks the first flight of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 into Copenhagen Airport.
The aircraft will be operating on Icelandair's route to Copenhagen as one of two returning by mid-February from storage at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport in Spain after having been grounded since October 2019.
Icelandair started operating its first three Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in 2018, and delivery of six more was planned for 2019; seven Boeing 737 MAX aircraft would be added in 2020 and 2021, bringing the fleet to a total of 16 of this type.
In the meantime, Icelandair has however renegotiated its contract with Boeing, and the carrier's fleet will eventually comprise only 12 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Now, three additional aircraft will be delivered in Spring 2021, with three more to come in 2022.
