Mar 05, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair lifted a total of 6,160 tonnes in February 2021, bringing the Jan-Feb volumes combined to 11,402 tonnes.
This corresponded to a drop by 38.9 and 49.9 percent, y-o-y, respectively.
In February, cargo on scheduled traffic accrued to 2,386 tonnes, down 76.3 percent, including 2,196 tonnes on the Asian lanes, down 67.8 percent.
Cargo on all-cargo flights generated 3,774 tonnes in February and 6,615 tonnes during the first two months of this year.
Compared to January 2021, cargo-only tonnes were up by 32.8 percent and the total cargo tonnes by 17.5 percent, despite February being a shorter month as strong demand for the cargo capacity especially in Asia continued.
The importance of cargo during the Covid-19 pandemic is proved by the fact that while Finnair's passenger load factor was down to 10.7 percent in the Asian traffic, it was supported by strong cargo operations and a high cargo load factor reaching 89.4 in February.
